The Consular Corps., and the State Government Officials of the State of Hessen including the Sri Lankan Expatriate Community attended a Memorial Service organized by the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The Memorial Service was held to remember victims, their families and all those affected by the events on Easter Sunday.

The Service commenced with the lighting of candles followed by observing two minutes of silence. A video presentation recalled the events. Thereafter multi-religious observances were conducted by clergy from the Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and Muslim faiths who prayed for those affected by the tragedy. Consul General Ms. Madurika Joseph Weninger speaking on the occasion said that ‘Sri Lanka represents diversity, kindness, compassion and a home for those who share our values. She also said those values cannot be shaken by this attack.’ Consul General further said that ‘extremism and radicalism are fully rejected by Sri Lanka. And we strongly condemn the ideology of the people who did this.’
